The Espresso Room

A friend and I had agreed to meet up in #deepestdarkestsuburbia, with men and misses 12 and 10 in tow, to venture into London for dim sum one Sunday morning (like I need an excuse to go into London) – she had never been to dim sum in London, despite having lived in the UK for 2 years. We agreed on the 0950 train to Waterloo ….. WE were on the platform. THEY weren’t ( I have to admit, much to the dismay of my girls, I do keep time like the Army Sergeant). The man, my nearly 12 and newly 10YO and I ventured onwards on the 0950 regardless!

It was a warm but rainy London day – oh that’s not a surprise! Whilst I keep time like the Army Sergeant, I am certainly no girl guide with the umbrellas and raincoats! So once at Leicester Square tube station, we had to seek shelter instead of wandering around Covent Garden as planned, until tardy friends joined! We stumbled into this tiny but delightful little coffee shop to wait for tardy friend and family.

It was so cosy and welcoming in The Espresso Room, that I too wanted to be a local, gossip with the them and be annoyed last night at the drunken and noisy party revelers walking down New Row after way too many drinks in Covent Garden. The man and I had a fabulous flat white and whilst I was tempted by the scrumptious, buttery pastries on offer on the counter, I had to remember the dumplings awaiting me in Chinatown!

So if you’re seeking shelter from the rain, or just wanting a good coffee in the theater district, go find this little gem of a coffee shop. It is tiny, so fingers crossed you get a seat to enjoy your coffee!
